June 2013 | A Lifeless Heart

When I lived in the city, I was merely going through the motions day after day of being a mom of four, a wife, a children’s church leader, a Christian school administrator and teacher.

I even found myself busy being a ‘Christian’.

I didn’t know it, but my heart was so far from God. However, I still managed to pray this one prayer asking Him for help.

God, help me. I am weak and I need your strength. My goals are: Revival, Faithfulness, Meekness, and Brokenness. Lord, I need a renewed and right spirit. Amen.

From time to time, I like to go back and read the prayers I have written to my Father.

When I stumbled across this one, I couldn’t help but cry. I had forgotten the words my feeble heart had requested, but God didn’t.

As I continued to read my prayer entries, God revealed to me just how much my heart had changed.

The miracle He had performed.

He revived this lifeless heart of mine in just four short seasons.

I had a good life in the city. Nonetheless, God was ready to give me a better life in the country, and it didn’t come without its troubles.

As you begin reading my story, I encourage you to open your heart to God.

I’ve learned a lifeless heart is only one prayer away from God doing the impossible.
